Villa Renovation In Dubai Hills

We completely revamped the aesthetic of this villa in Dubai Hills, working with our clients to bring the vision that they had of a light, bright, contemporary home to reality. Background & project brief

Our clients had moved into this three bedroom property in Dubai Hills with a vision to put their mark on it. The existing space was large but the layout created closed-off, wasted areas, and the main rooms in the property were lacking in natural light; making them feel smaller than they actually were. When the client moved in, the interior palette was relatively neutral, but they felt that it was lacking in character. The client told us how they wanted our interior design partner to add some colour in the new interior palette to break up the neutrals, but there needed to be a balance here.

Given their working lifestyles, our clients tend to spend quite a bit of time at home, so they needed some practicality and multi-purpose functionality throughout the property. In the lounge, the main inspiration that they had was a ‘sanctuary’-inspired ambience; they wanted this space to feel like a retreat in its own right. Our clients also emphasised outdoor living as part of their requirements, and the plot that they had acquired included an area that we’d be able to work with in this regard.

What we did

Our architects and technical designers were briefed by our project management team, and once they were clear on the findings from the design consultation, they started working on producing technical and architectural drawings for the space. We navigated through Dubai Municipality building regulations to ensure compliance with local property development laws, creating a final design for the client to review. Once both parties were happy with the plans and a planning application had been submitted and approved, we got to work.

Our first task was to create a new internal structure for the open plan ground floor of the property. Part of this also included installing glass panels throughout the dining area and lounge, encouraging more natural light to flow into the space. The panels that we added to the lounge functioned as folding doors too, giving us the perfect blended indoor and outdoor space.

In the lounge, we cleared the space ready for our decorators and interior design partner to start work. For this project, we worked with Cynthia El Frenn, an expert interior designer who specialises in contemporary, sophisticated spaces. Cynthia created a palette for the bedroom that captured our clients requirements, incorporating earthy tones with subtle, vibrant accents to create depth and visual intrigue. Cynthia made purposeful choices with every aspect of the decor in this room, from choosing long, sheer white curtains, to opting for curved furnishings to complement the calming ambience of the space.

With a vision to merge indoor and outdoor spaces flawlessly, our collaboration with interior designer Cynthia El Frenn has resulted in a sophisticated fusion of refinement and comfort. The living area harmonizes with the garden’s natural surroundings, offering a welcoming retreat that exudes elegance.

Outside, we created a new structure around the patio area, using premium materials for the new exterior walls and the tiles around the swimming pool. The materials chosen reflect the soft, neutral hues that we often see in developments in Dubai Hills.

The outcome

The final result of this Dubai Hills villa renovation was a remarkable, modern, inviting space, where our clients felt a sense of serenity all while going about their daily lives. Once the renovation was completed, they had a new outdoor space, complete with a revamped swimming pool and patio, to enjoy. They felt that our interior design partner had introduced the perfect balance of colour into the aesthetic and style of each room, complemented by the decor and furnishing choices that we made collaboratively. Earthy tones, curated accents, and a seamless blend of indoor and outdoor living gave this home a unique appeal.
